ABOUT US
Bilge Kalfa Architecture (BKA) is a Berlin-based design practice led by architect, educator, and curator Bilge Kalfa. Currently a lecturer at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, Kalfa brings an academic grounding in design research to her practice, with a particular focus on regenerative materials and ecologically embedded spatial strategies.
Kalfa’s work began in Istanbul with a series of award-winning projects across theatre, cultural venues, and adaptive reuse, establishing a sensibility rooted in care, repair, and contextual responsiveness. Since relocating to Berlin, she has expanded her practice to include installation design and material-led spatial explorations that investigate the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and sensory experience.
BKA’s projects reflect a commitment to a more-than-human design perspective, integrating local and cyclical material systems into architecture, interiors, and ephemeral environments. As co-curator of the 2025 Pavilion of Turkey at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Kalfa continues to explore the entanglement of soil, memory, and architecture—shaping a practice that listens to the ground as much as it builds upon it.
